Throughout the years I have heard so many different stories and opinions about hiring a car, that I decided to ask people who actually rent cars on a regular basis when traveling. Here are their testimonials:

“I am a reporter at a prestigious newspaper in Liverpool. You can imagine all the traveling I have to do when writing an article about an event that happened in London. The newspaper does not offer too much travel money so I travel with low-cost companies. I usually arrive at Stansted Airport, which is not very close to the center of London, so usually I book the service of a car hiring company. The car is waiting for me at the airport, plus I arrive at the >>scene<< in no time, so the article is fresh. Once I am finished, I come back to the airport and return home."

"As a novel writer, I travel around the country pretty much, to promote my book, to make public appearances and to read to my fans in libraries. The most unpleasant thing is the amount of time I lose with traveling. I would like to spend this time actually visiting the cities I go to, so I prefer walking than traveling by car. Unfortunately, the short amount of time allocated for every city is keeping me from doing that, so we (me and my agent) usually rent a car right at the airport.
