I Have So Many Memories from London

At the start of 2009 (which was only a couple of months ago), I decided I wanted things to go differently this year. While most people set resolutions at the start of a New Year, this isn’t something I had really done before. However, this seemed like a good opportunity, so I made a resolution I knew I could keep. The plan that I came up with was to make vacationing a priority in my life. In order to avoid blowing off what I had committed, I wanted to book a trip as soon as possible.

Not only did I setup a trip to London at the beginning of the year (which was actually a lot easier than I expected it to be), but I actually took it just a few weeks ago. Thanks to the Internet, all of my travel arrangements (including my Stansted car hire) were made ahead of time. It was this advance planning and the ability to pick up my Stansted car hire in no time that made my trip so easy to enjoy. This was a very good thing, because it reinforced my previous feelings that there is truly a lot of value to travelling.

While I would have been completely happy if I got to stay in London longer (because it is such a cool place to visit), all good trips have to come to an end. However, there are still over eight months left in this year! Although I was already planning on finding another trip to take over the course of the next couple of weeks, one of my friends told me that she wants to go on a trip too, so that gives me even more motivation to find somewhere to go.

Planning for a Trip to London

I will admit that I am a very organised person. While this is a trait that annoys many people, I think it is a wonderful thing. The reason that I think that is because I feel my organisational tendencies enhance my overall quality of life. If you need proof, let’s talk about some of my friends. I have several friends who I love dearly, but do not have a clue when it comes to being organised. Whether it’s their house, finances or mind, these friends can’t keep anything on track. Additionally, all of these friends are always complaining about being stressed out, and although none of them would admit to it, the exact reason is because of their lack of organisational skills.

On the other hand, I rarely feel stressed, and the reason is because I always know things are taken care of. For example, when I was planning for a trip to London, I made sure that I booked my Stansted car hire ahead of time. When I arrived at the airport, people were panicking because the car hire companies were running low on vehicles, but I never had to break a sweat because my car hire was already reserved for me!

It Was So Nice to Get Away to London

If you are like me, you probably have a fairly stressful job. Even though I do enjoy what I do for a living, that doesn’t mean that I don’t get stressed out from time to time as a result of my work. I work quite a bit, and even though I do enjoy it, it’s simply a fact of life that sooner or later the stress of what I am doing is going to catch up with me.

Towards the end of 2008, I was really starting to feel the stress weigh down on my shoulders. I had been working even longer hours than normal, and I was starting to not only feel stressed, but also very worn out in general. I knew that if I didn’t take a break, my work was eventually going to begin to suffer, which would result in even more stress for me to deal with.

Fortunately, I had some vacation days available, so I decided to plan a really nice trip for myself to kick off 2009. I chose to go to London, and I have to say that I ended up having a wonderful time while I was there. I honestly didn’t do much of the usual tourist stuff, but that was because my main goal for the trip was to relax and recharge my batteries, which is exactly what I succeeded in accomplishing.
